How to Make Your False Lashes Last Longer

How to Make Your False Lashes Last Longer

False lashes are an investment — and with the right care, a quality pair can be worn 10 to 15+ times. The secret? It's all in how you remove, clean, and store them.

Follow these simple steps and your lashes will stay looking fresh wear after wear.

Step 1: Remove Them Gently

The number one way lashes get damaged is rough removal.

Always:

  • Soak a cotton pad with an oil-free makeup remover and press it gently against the lash band for 10–15 seconds to loosen the glue.
  • Peel from the outer corner inward — slowly and gently.
  • Never pull from the lashes themselves, only from the band.

Avoid oil-based removers as they can break down the lash fibres and make the band lose its shape.

Step 2: Remove Residual Glue

After removal, you'll notice dried glue along the band. Don't skip this step! Use your fingers or a pair of tweezers to gently peel the glue off the band. Work slowly from one end to the other. Leaving old glue on the band makes future applications messier and weakens the band over time.

Step 3: Clean the Lashes

If there's mascara or eyeshadow residue on the lashes:

  • Dip a clean cotton swab in oil-free micellar water and gently swipe along the lash fibres.
  • Never soak the lashes in water or submerge them — this can cause them to lose their curl and shape.
  • Let them air dry completely before storing.

Step 4: Store Them Properly

Storage is everything. Always return your lashes to their original tray or case after cleaning. The curved tray helps them maintain their shape. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can fade and dry out the fibres.

Bonus Tips to Extend Lash Life

  • Apply mascara sparingly — or skip it altogether on your false lashes. Mascara buildup is the fastest way to shorten their lifespan.
  • Use the right amount of glue. Too much glue is harder to remove and can damage the band. A thin, even layer is all you need. Our EnvyEyes Lash Adhesive is formulated for a clean, easy removal every time.
  • Handle by the band, not the fibres. The delicate lash hairs can bend and break if handled roughly.
  • Don't sleep in them. Ever. This is the fastest way to ruin a good pair of lashes.

When Is It Time to Replace Your Lashes?

Even with perfect care, lashes don't last forever. It's time for a new pair when:

  • The band is bent, warped, or won't lay flat
  • The fibres are visibly frayed, sparse, or crossing
  • They've lost their original curl and won't bounce back
